Day 3 - Amantani - Taquile - Puno
Morning after breakfast and a last visit in the area proceed to the Island of Taquile where you can view pre Inca & Inca archaeological ruins & terracing. The peoples here wear colorful traditional clothes which they make themselves, they speak Quechuan rather than the Aymara language of most Titicaca Indians. They are of stronger character and individuality over the others in the region and rarely marry outside their community of the Taquile people. The island here has a very tranquil and peaceful setting that makes it more appealing for those wanting to get away from the activities that flourish on the other nearby islands. Culture is important here and normally one can see the local men partaking in what would normally would be considered a womans task as they often are seen walking around the island knitting the traditional woollen caps which they wear almost always. The women as well weave the traditional clothes which are considered among the best in Peru. Afterward a few hours here you will depart by boat from Taquille with a late afternoon arrival into Puno. Here you will be met and transferred to the Hotel. Overnight at the Hotel. (CB)
